A Cozy Evil Genius Beer Co. Engagement Shoot

Tell us how you met and fell in love!

Way back in high school, we used to play softball against one another, but we officially met in our early twenties through a mutual friend. At that time, we were both dating other people but stayed connected on social media. A few years later, we reconnected. After flirting nonstop for about two weeks, we met up for happy hour, shared our first kiss, and the rest is herstory.

Was there a proposal? Tell us about it!

Yes! Shea proposed on October 28, 2017, and I had no idea it was coming. After attending a Halloween party the night before, I heard Shea up and about early the next morning. I smelled her perfume and was confused, so I asked her what time it was; I thought I had overslept since I was supposed to go over to help my dad later that day. Shea told me to go back to sleep, and I did. A little while later, my phone alarm went off, and I when trying to turn it off, I found a note wrapped around my phone that said: “I feel like we haven’t spent much one-on-one time together lately, so I planned a little date for us! Put these pajamas on and come downstairs when you’re ready.” Knowing that I am not much of a morning person, Shea had also brewed my morning coffee and set it on my nightstand. I made my way downstairs, where I found a fort (we built a fort our first Valentine’s Day together and spent all weekend in it)! The fort had firefly lights up top, with pictures of us from our years of dating and travel adventures. In the far corner hung a note that said beautiful things about our relationship and how she didn’t want to go through life with anyone else. While I was reading it, all I could think was, “Oh my god, I’m going to turn around and she’s going to be on one knee!” She was :) Of course I said yes! We spent the rest of the morning celebrating with champagne then announced it to the rest of our friends and family that night.

Are you planning your wedding right away or giving yourself some time to just be engaged?

We initially planned on taking our time but had a free weekend and found a venue we loved with not many dates available, so planning started right away but we enjoyed the process.

What’s the best thing you’ve learned from your spouse-to-be?

Danielle: That being truly passionate about something is supposed to light you up.

Shea: How to be a better, healthier communicator

What’s your favorite part of your relationship?

Danielle: That we never quit and always do our best to understand each other and live the best life possible.

Shea: Laughing together and being silly.

A New River, AZ Desert Love Shoot

How did you meet?

We met through a mutual friend, Meghan, who introduced us by inviting us on a random trip to Flagstaff, AZ. On the long drive up north, Katelyn was sitting in the seat next to me singing and I texted Meghan that I thought Katelyn was the cutest girl I had ever seen. The following day, Katelyn messaged me about going to get breakfast together and everything grew from there.

What is the best quality about the other person?

The best quality about Katelyn is that she is the most honest and self-aware person I have ever met. She is deep, caring, vulnerable, funny, forgiving, apologetic, and true to herword. I know you asked for one “best quality,” but she truly has many.

Cassidy has so many good qualities it's hard to choose just one, but if I had to pick the“best,” something that I admire so much about her is that she's so genuine with everything she does. When you talk, she actually listens and looks you right in the eyes. You can really feel how much she cares by the way she listens to every detail and always gives you the best advice (even if it's over something silly.) She just loves so much and has the biggest heart! I feel like it's so hard to find people who are so honest and caring nowadays, I really got lucky to find someone like her.

What is the best thing that your significant other has taught you?

Katelyn has taught me what I deserve out of someone who chooses to love and take care of me everyday. She constantly reminds me to not be afraid of my past and how it’s hurt me, but to strive for the happiness I have always deserved.

Cassidy has taught me that I have so much to offer, that I am special and deserve to be loved this much by someone. She pushes me to be the best person I can be and to just to be happy with the little things in life and to take it one day at a time.

What do you most look forward to in the future with your significant other?

To encompass about a hundred answers in one, I most look forward to growing old with Katelyn. To be sitting on our porch, retired, and feeling surreal about the life and family we created. We talk about having a family often, and plan to build a beautiful one with the foundation of our love.

I look forward to doing everything in life with Cassidy, from the littlest of things to biggest. But something I can say that I’m really looking forward to is being able to call her my wife one day and to raise a beautiful family with her. I know that she will be the best mom and I can't wait to be in our home in the backyard with our kids just messing around having fun feeling so much love and happiness. That truly is something I day dream about often and can't wait for that to become a reality one day.

Tell us a bit about your love shoot! What made you decide to do a love shoot? Where did the style/design inspiration come from?

I have known Makayla since High School, and she reached out about doing a shoot with us to capture our first photoshoot as a couple. We had been wanting to do one, and felt extremely grateful when Makayla messaged us about it. She brought us to a gem of a location hidden in the mountains, so the inspiration for the shoot came completely from her. She absolutely has an eye for what she does. We can’t stop fawning over the pictures!
