A Cozy Evil Genius Beer Co. Engagement Shoot
Tell us how you met and fell in love!
Way back in high school, we used to play softball against one another, but we officially met in our early twenties through a mutual friend. At that time, we were both dating other people but stayed connected on social media. A few years later, we reconnected. After flirting nonstop for about two weeks, we met up for happy hour, shared our first kiss, and the rest is herstory.
Was there a proposal? Tell us about it!
Yes! Shea proposed on October 28, 2017, and I had no idea it was coming. After attending a Halloween party the night before, I heard Shea up and about early the next morning. I smelled her perfume and was confused, so I asked her what time it was; I thought I had overslept since I was supposed to go over to help my dad later that day. Shea told me to go back to sleep, and I did. A little while later, my phone alarm went off, and I when trying to turn it off, I found a note wrapped around my phone that said: “I feel like we haven’t spent much one-on-one time together lately, so I planned a little date for us! Put these pajamas on and come downstairs when you’re ready.” Knowing that I am not much of a morning person, Shea had also brewed my morning coffee and set it on my nightstand. I made my way downstairs, where I found a fort (we built a fort our first Valentine’s Day together and spent all weekend in it)! The fort had firefly lights up top, with pictures of us from our years of dating and travel adventures. In the far corner hung a note that said beautiful things about our relationship and how she didn’t want to go through life with anyone else. While I was reading it, all I could think was, “Oh my god, I’m going to turn around and she’s going to be on one knee!” She was :) Of course I said yes! We spent the rest of the morning celebrating with champagne then announced it to the rest of our friends and family that night.
Are you planning your wedding right away or giving yourself some time to just be engaged?
We initially planned on taking our time but had a free weekend and found a venue we loved with not many dates available, so planning started right away but we enjoyed the process.
